Stosh's Story...
Stosh is a Boxer-mix, male-nt, 3 years of age.

Melt-your-heart eyes and striking good looks…that alone is hard to resist, but wait until you get to know this adorable canine gentleman! Affectionate and loving toward those with whom he is already familiar, sweetheart Stosh is a sensitive guy who is attentive and thoughtful, preferring to hang-back and observe for a minute rather than jumping right into the mix; Stosh simply needs a respectful minute to evaluate the circumstances, after which he quickly warms and once he does, look out---he’ll steal your heart!

Completely and devotedly loyal, Stosh wants little more than to be shown where he fits into the family, and to become a treasured, always included, member of the “pack.” Stosh craves direction and needs responsible, caring owners who will take the time to provide him with the structure and leadership he needs. He is looking to his “pack leader” to show him how to navigate life…or at least the rules of his new household!

A wholly sincere, but somewhat shy guy right now, Stosh will surely enjoy and benefit from some positive training and socialization experiences, both of which will help to build his confidence and increase his comfort-zone. Also for his happiness and health, he’ll need regular physical and mental exercise like leashed walks, interactive play sessions, and adventurous outings with his much-adored family members. All of these things will go a long way to ensuring Stosh’s continued success as a polite, mild-mannered, quietly confident dog and family companion.

Stosh is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a moderately-active lifestyle. As with all dogs, a meet-n-greet with any housemate dogs will be necessary to determine compatibility prior to adoption. Direct interaction with cats is unknown and cannot be fully assessed at the shelter at this time.

Come meet Stosh at Monroe County Animal Control located at 911 S. Raisinville Rd, Monroe, MI (just south of the fairgrounds). Kennel hours are Tuesday - Friday, 11:00 am - 3:30 pm; Saturday, 11:00 am - 2:30 pm; closed Sunday, Monday, and National Holidays.

For more information you can email carrie_nation@monroemi.org or call the shelter during business hours at 734-240-3125.

Monroe SPCA also offers microchips for dogs and cats adopted from Monroe County Animal Control for a fee of $15.00 at the time of adoption. Microchips are implanted between the dog’s shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. Microchips are registered to Monroe SPCA with adopters adding “new owner” information after adoption. If the dog is ever lost and slips his or her collar and tags, the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact when the dog is scanned for a microchip.

Even if you cannot adopt at this time, please consider making a donation to Monroe SPCA so we may continue saving, protecting, and improving the lives of homeless animals in Monroe County.

In addition to providing emergency medical treatment to animals who need it, Monroe SPCA, now, provides every dog at Monroe County Animal Control with basic preventative health care which includes flea preventative, deworming(s), DHPP vaccine and booster, and Heartworm Testing. If a dog tests positive for Heartworm, Monroe SPCA also provides that dog with Heartworm treatment. Dogs adoptable through Monroe County Animal Control have no adoption fee at this time (adopter’s pay a $10.00 application fee and $25.00 sterilization deposit payable to the County of Monroe); this Monroe SPCA Operational Support Program at Monroe County Animal Control is funded solely by monetary donations. We do not receive government funding, and we are not affiliated with or funded by Monroe County Animal Control, the HSUS, the ASPCA, or any other humane organization. Monroe SPCA is a 501c.3 non-profit organization, and we rely on the financial support and generosity of individuals and businesses in our community to conduct our daily operations and help animals. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Stosh, a Monroe Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer for sale in Monroe, or seeking a Boxer dog from a breeder in Monroe.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Monroe already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Monroe breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer breeders who help with Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Monroe paves the way for another one to be saved.
