This sweet lady is Cricket! Cricket is an adorable smaller girl. She is perhaps about 11 years old and 18 lbs., and very sweet. Cricket has an unusual gait and favors her left side. The vet discovered she has had a untreated hip fracture caused by buckshot ☹ so she will likely benefit from some ongoing meds to help her feel better. Cricket was rescued when her former owner went to a nursing home. She is an inside dog, totally housebroken and crate trained. She will bark if she needs something (i.e., has to go out). She tolerates some dogs; and will hold her own with other dogs by giving a warning growl. She is very protective of food or treats. She has a low activity level due to her hip problem, but is very sweet and loving and would make a great companion for someone who enjoys snuggling more than walking. When she came in she had a skin condition but was ever so tolerant of the many shampoos she received! Happy to say her fur is now shining! She would be a wonderful match for a family who just wants a sweet older gal to love on and be a companion. A fenced in yard is not required but we do ask that she be in a home with no kids or older kids only (13+) as she herself is older and needs to be treated with care.

The adoption fee of $175.00 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. Although we make the best guess on the breed and size of our dogs, because they come from shelters, we can never be completely certain of the genetic makeup of the dog. All we can tell you for sure is that they are 100% RESCUED! Cricket is being fostered in Mundelein, IL.

About Starfish Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Starfish Animal Rescue has been rescuing and transporting cats and dogs from two shelters in Southeast Kentucky. Since Starfish's conception, we have been able to rescue and transport over 10.000 dogs and cats. We are always in need of volunteers, and donations. All of our adoptable pups are in loving foster homes, preparing for their forever home.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are not a shelter. We are a group of pet lovers and advocates who are committed to targeted rescue. Starfish Animal Rescue is a licensed rescue that is run by an all volunteer staff.
Once we rescue a dog or cat, it is placed in one of our foster homes until we are able to find it a suitable home. We are happy to set up an appointment to meet our pets once we receive and review your completed application.

We do our best to process applications quickly but please understand that we are a foster based rescue and that our volunteers work jobs; many are full time. Sending in a completed application is the best way to facilitate this process. You can go on our website and download an application
Once your application is reviewed, we will put you in contact with the dog's foster family to set up a time to meet the pet of your choice!
Thank you for supporting our rescue and what we are trying to accomplish in southeastern Kentucky.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption fees range from $100 - $450 depending on age and breed. For dogs/puppies this covers spay/neuter, microchip, dewormers, flea and tick preventative, heartworm test (only over 6 months of age) and all up to date, age appropriate vaccinations. We require an adoption application and a home visit prior to adoption.
