Meet Sugar!

He came to us from Salinas, California. Sugar is a 60 pound Husky that is about 1 and half years old. He is full of loving affection and boundless energy! He is friendly with new people and always has a kiss ready for you. He loves to go running, hiking, and would be the perfect workout buddy. Like with any Husky learning the ropes, he will need to learn some doggy manners in the home.

We aren’t sure why Sugar is still with us here at the shelter because we absolutely love this guy.  He’s sweet, lovable, gets along well with other  large dogs, is intelligent, picks up behavioral modifications and tricks quickly, does great in a car and is an all around nice guy. Most of all  if you’re looking for fun – it’s spelled S U G A R. He’s a gorgeous Husky, who’s an enthusiast about walks, runs, food, meeting people, what’s left? He loves life, wears a permanent doggy smile, and appears to find joy in just about everything. Talk about your great pick-me-up!     His exuberance means couch potatoes need not apply. But if you’re looking for someone to accompany you on runs, hikes, and adventures of any kind, Sugar is your guy. It’s not that he won’t settle with you because he loves nothing more than cuddling by the couch with you, he’d just prefer to be in the company of someone who can match his same fun loving energy.

We are looking for a dog savvy or Husky savvy adopter who realizes that Huskies need positive reinforcement guidance. They are a special, sensitive breed and don’t do well with any kind of force training methods. If you think you are up for the challenge and have prior northern breed experience then Sugar is your guy. Like all Huskies, Sugar should not go home with young children or dogs under 25 lbs.

He is very smart, loves to play with other large dogs, and is excited to find his forever home. If you are interested in meeting this amazing dog, please fill out an adoption application!
