Sophie is the quintessential beagle: pretty as a picture, bright as a button and as fixated on prey sights and smells as a cat in an aquarium. She may only be a small-medium sized dog at 37lbs but her “follow-your-instincts” attitude makes her quite a power house on the leash. A walking harness has worked well for the handlers at the shelter to counteract her pulling. As well as her hunting instincts Sophie loves attention and will snuggle in to you to get the best petting. She is a fast learner, even if she has a Beagle’s selective hearing, and can perform an excellent sit as well as enjoying all the agility activities. When her prey drive is activated, Sophie enjoys playing with toys, the rest of the time she is happy selecting one soft toy and carrying it gently in her mouth as she goes about her business. Sophie has been abandoned in the prime of her life and while she tries hard to hide her feelings she really desperately needs a home to love and cherish her – but only Beagle lovers need apply.
