Are you looking for a diet and workout buddy to help you stick to your 2017 resolutions? Meet Nellie! Nellie is an adorable tabby with a little bit of extra weight to lose. Her favorite workout moves are chasing laser lights, stalking shoelaces, and pouncing on cat toys - especially the ones on a string!

Since the key to any good workout program is recovery, Nellie is more than up for the challenge! Her foster family says that “once she gets to know you she will quickly want to cuddle up with you on the bed and just be pampered.” Her even temperament and gentle, laid back attitude make her the perfect lap kitty.

Nellie would be happiest in a single-cat household with no dogs or young children. This gentle soul can be timid and cautious at first, but once she warms up to her new home she will shower you with affection and show off her playful personality. Once she opens up, she is quite the connoisseur of belly rubs!

Nellie is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, negative for FeLV/FIV, and $50 to adopt.

Cat Town is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, formed by long term volunteers from Oakland Animal Services (OAS) and other Bay Area shelters. We have partnered with OAS to take the cats who are least likely to do well in a shelter setting. About Cat Town

About Our Rescue Group...

Cat Town is a 501(c)(3) cat rescue organization based in Oakland, CA. Formed by volunteers of Oakland Animal Services (OAS) (Oakland's municipal shelter), our mission is to find homes for the cats least likely to be adopted from OAS because they can't handle the stress of the shelter environment. By getting these cats into foster homes, they can relax and show their true personalities to potential adopters. We focus on older semi-feral kittens, stressed, shy or undersocialized cats, and cats who are older and/or have special needs. We are a relatively new organization and are all-volunteer run. We operate on a shoestring budget so can always use financial donations, as well as food, litter and other supplies. We are always looking for great foster homes and volunteers for everything that we do. Helping these vulnerable cats is pure joy! Please contact us at info@cattownoakland.org to get involved.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our cats are in foster homes, mostly in Oakland, CA, but some are in surrounding cities. Our fosters are generally very flexible about scheduling cat introductions.

Our Adoption Process...

All of our cats are in foster homes, mostly in Oakland, CA, or other nearby cities. We will talk to you by phone to make sure the cat sounds like a good fit for your home before setting up an introduction in the foster home. We have a pretty straightforward adoption application, which you will be asked to complete only after you have met a cat who you want to adopt. Our adoption fees for kittens and cats up to age 7 are $50 for a single cat or $75 for pair; cats age 8 an older are $35 for a single cat or $50 for a pair. All cats are spayed/neutered, current on their vaccinations and microchipped. Cats age six months or older are tested for FIV/FeLV.
