My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Reno is estimated to be 6-9 month old and is a 32 lb male Boxer/Terrier/Lab mix. Reno was a stray from Southern Indiana so we don't know any of his history. On January 7th Reno was placed on a transport from Southern Indiana and headed to Illinois, which is when we began fostering him. What we can tell you after a couple of days is that Reno is a great looking dog who is a very loyal, lovable dog and has a big heart. He just loves being around people and close to where you are. He is always appears happy and is quickly adjusting to his new life.
His first couple of days were about as good as could be expected. Reno is learning the routine where first thing in the morning we get up, go outside and go to the bathroom, then come inside and eat breakfast. We are teaching him some manners and have Reno sit before we feed him. Reno would do great in a home with another dog or would be fine by himself. We had another foster and the two of them played very well together. We also have a 65 lb German Shepherd mix of our own and the two dogs get along wonderfully. Reno is learning that toys are fun and loves chewing on the nylabone, rubber bone and ball. He has shown no aggression with food or treats. We feed both dogs together and they share a water bowl and we've had no problems to date, although once Reno is done with his food he's ready to steal someone else's. We went on our first walk and Reno did pretty well. I'm not sure he's ever been on a leash before but with a little patience and training he will be fine. He was a little afraid of cars that drove by and just stopped when they did. Reno is a puppy at heart and needs someone that will teach him some manners, for example not to jump up on people. He's just so darn excited to see you that he occasionally jumps up. He will need someone to explain to him that your slippers aren't his toys, but how is he to know.
Reno spent his first couple of nights in the crate and was just fine. He currently goes in there if we leave the house and hasn't had any issues. He's getting better but needs a little coaxing of a treat to go in. Reno just needs a bit of training and adjusting to his new routine. Reno appears to be potty trained but as with all new dogs we keep an eye on him and make sure he is let outside and gets into that routine we are looking for. He did have 1 accident so far, but not too bad all things considered. All Reno wants is to be loved, played with, and given some attention. Reno has started settling in and is enjoying laying in his dog bed or on the couch with you. He loves to cuddle.
I would say Reno has a medium level of energy and would do great in just about any type of home. He is still a puppy and likes to play at times. As I type this however he's sleeping on the couch so he definitely knows how to relax. Reno enjoys the outdoors and roaming around our fenced in backyard. It would do Reno some good to have someone that is willing to take him on daily walks to get him some exercise and use up some of that puppy energy. This handsome guy deserves a forever home and would make a great addition to your family. Reno is up to date on all his vaccinations and has been neutered.
