Boots was surrendered to a local kill-shelter after his owner suffered a heart attack and had to move into an apartment that didn't allow large pets. His owner had had Boots since he was just a baby. Boots may look tough, but he is really just a big marshmallow. He is a cuddle buddy and loves to give kisses. While he has been around other dogs, he can sometimes be a little reactive in his personal space with new animals, so we recommend he go to a home where he can be your one and only furry buddy (or to a home with a very passive doggie friend). He only wants love and couch time, and companionship. He would be a fine addition to a home that just wants a big buddy to keep them company. He is completely house trained and crate trained. He needs some work with leash walking, but would really just like a nice, big, fenced in backyard to play in. He has done fine with kids in his past owner's life. He knows basic commands, such as sit, down, speak, stay, and wait. His foster mom says he is truly one of the absolute easiest foster dogs she has ever had!
Boots is up to date on vaccines, neutered, heartworm negative, and will be microchipped prior to adoption. We estimate his DOB to be 10/01/2011. He is currently around 65 pounds. His adoption fee is $300 and includes his vetting and transport. Boots is in foster care in the East Tennessee area prior to adoption and transport. Vet references, personal references, and home visits may be required prior to adoption.
