My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING. ADR is not responsible for the health, temperament, behavior or placement of this dog. Listings are done at the request of the dog's owner and as an outreach and community service in hopes of finding these dogs a loving, stable forever home. Placement decisions are made solely at the discretion of the owner, and not Austin Dog Rescue. Owners are required to ask for an adoption fee from adopters.

This is the information that we received from Hank's current family:

My husband and I were driving back into Austin from an overnight camping trip, and we came across two stray dogs outside of Uvalde, TX. We pulled over after being alarmed that they were standing in the middle of a major road with cars and semi trucks flying past them. We cautiously approached these two to only find them welcome us with a desire of belly rubs and paw shakes. We knew these two were very special dogs. They were found without collars, no microchips (verified by two different vets), covered in fleas and no local postings about them being missing.Unable to have the heart to surrender them to the local, crowded Uvalde shelter, and possibly have them separated, we drove them back to Austin, and got them fully vaccinated, flea treated, fed and bathed.

They are at home with us and our three other pups, but I'm seeking someone who wants to be their forever home or potential foster home. They are the sweetest dogs, and have a strong bond to each other (constantly playing, grooming, and cuddling with each other). My main goal is to find them a home that will allow them to be adopted together. They are very attached and bonded to be separated. We wish we could adopt them, but with having a full pack of three and a smaller house + work travel, it's not the best option. We would love to find them an adoptive home or even a foster home that might have the proper bandwidth to take care of these two amazing dogs.

Update: After posting to several missing dog websites and making contact with a buyer of the original owner, it appears that these dogs were unfortunately abandoned. We have posted to all of the popular missing dog websites, Facebook pages, craigslist lost/found, left flyers with the local vet and called and notified the animal shelter. Also, I have tried finding them an adoptive home through our social media, friends, family, coworkers, Nextdoor app, craigslist classified and have reached out to local pet businesses and rescues for support.
