CHARM-pending's Story...
This adorable girl arrived on Jan 7th. She is 3 years old and a sibling of Mika. She had stolen our hearts by bedtime which only took a few hours since she arrived at 6:30 pm. She rode quietly in the car on the way home and, although she was nervous at first, settled down quickly. She met my dogs with no problems. She had no issue with them and they accepted her.

UPDATE: She seems to be house broken as has had no accidents in my home. Should that change, we will advise. Charm is a bit tentative when facing new situations and needs time to see that all is well. See the video as she met two new people and showed that she is very sweet but just a little unsure. She LOVES to be close and will curl in a lap for reassurance. She looks for a bit of comforting. It has not even been 24 hours here yet and we know she will warm up to her new situation. As she gains confidence and we get to know her better we will be updating the description.

UPDATE: What a difference a couple of days can make. This little love bug has come so far
From the hesitant dog who was worried about entering a room in the house that she had not been in before, to a happy explorer. She has met new people and enjoyed the attention. Charm is still a quiet girl and she is content to snuggle on a lap or a pillow. Charm is house broken and asks to go out when she needs. She does not seem to know many basic dog commands, so will need a bit of training, but her calm nature will carry her through the work. All in all she is an easy going pleasant dog with low activity requirements.

UPDATE: After her first few days, during which she was unsure, Charm has become a wonderful guest in our home. Calm and sweet ( housebroken too) she is a joy to foster. Charm greets everyone with puppy kisses and tail wags. No one is a stranger. She loves to be close to people and enjoys lap time and cuddles. I have fostered many dogs, some were hard to see leave us, I think Charm will be one of those.

This animal is currently fostered in a private home. Our rescue is 100% foster home based. We do not have a shelter or kennel. They are cared for by a loving family until adopted. Each pup has had their first vet exam, a shot, and de-worming, etc We make sure they have no fleas prior to going into our foster homes. They are fostered out of the shelter at least two weeks or more prior to adopting to monitor health. We take their care seriously! Please note that the adoption appointments will be scheduled after your application is approved. Once adopted, feel free to change the dog's name. You do not have to keep the name listed in this post.

All dogs over 6 months are spayed/Neutered, rabie shot, heartworm tested, parvo distemper shot, and dewormed. IF YOU ADOPT a pup and live in the State of New Jersey we do have low cost spaying and neutering at very affordable prices. Kindly inquire upon an approved application. We also have an affordable program for out of state adopters.

We also offer low cost micro-chipping! For a low fee of only 20.00 we will have your dog microchipped. You will be able to register the microchip for a low cost fee of only 10.99 at the time of the adoption appointment. The 10.99 fee is a ONE time registration fee. The microchip is for the lifetime of the dog. You have the ability to update the contact information at NO cost. You will also have a one year membership to Home Again. This is a big savings for you.

***** If you're interested in fostering we could always use the help to save more animals. A crate, food, and medical care are provided. The animals are picked up in West Milford, NJ and brought back here for adoption. The time commitment is two to two and a half weeks. Please email letting us know what town you live in and we will forward information to you. *****

Sheryl's Den has teamed up with Petfirst Health care in an effort to offer pet insurance for your adopted family member. If you wish, you can enroll once you adopt. Your coverage will begin following your activation. The first 30 days are free! There is no cost to the adopter for this 30-day protection (This program is available in all US states and Washington DC, but not NY at this time) The 30-day coverage plan ensures the pets adopted are covered for accidents and illnesses. This plan provides $1,000 aggregate/ $500 per-incident limit of accident and illness protection. It reimburses 100% of vet bills after a $50 per-incident deductible. To activate the insurance, pet parents must call 1-855-710-7387. The insurance is not active until the adopter activates it, and is not retroactive to the date of the adoption. Once their insurance is active, they use the veterinarian of their choice and submit their bills for reimbursement, which PetFirst processes in as little as two weeks. Adopters have the option to extend or upgrade their coverage at the time of activation.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

CHARM-pending, a West Milford Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in West Milford, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in West Milford.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in West Milford already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a West Milford breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in West Milford paves the way for another one to be saved.
