My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a pink white male chinchilla who’s looking for his new home. He came to NWI a bit ago, he’s been evaluated (and found to be mild special needs), and is now ready to leave and go to a family of his own.

He was born around 8/16/16, making him right around 4 months old. His color is called pink white, which is typically an overall white body color, but can also have some beige coloration. As you can tell from his pictures, this boy is pretty much solid white.

This boy is a special chinchilla – he’s mildy special needs – he has an equilibrium problem. When he gets worked up or excited, he loses his sense of equilibrium and he turns his head to the right, and will do laps around the cage. He doesn’t do this the entire time he’s in the cage, but he does it enough to realize that something is going on. He does NOT have a current ear infection. However, it is possible that either he had one in the past and this is what has happened, or that he was born with this problem. Because of this, we do not recommend a large cage for him – max 24” tall to ensure he does not have high to fall from, should he fall.

As far as his personality, he’s actually a super sweet chin. When you hold him, you would never guess that there’s anything wrong. He sits very nicely in your arms to be held and petted, and he really does seem to enjoy just chilling and being petted. He’s a super sweet boy, we just love this little marshmallow. He acts like a normal chin in every other way – eats, drinks, poos, chews… just occasionally does laps and turns his head to the right. See the video. Doesn’t bite.

I can’t stress how sweet this chin is – he’s a total love bug! He just needs an understanding home that loves him for the chin he is.

He would make a great “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had one before, as long as they understand his mild special needs.

This chinchilla is currently caged alone. However, if you interested in pairing him up with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (Tradition pellets), a goodie bag of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. He will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). Sorry, but we do not ship.

The adoption fee for this pink white male chinchilla is $200
