Facts about Meme

  • Breed: Shar Pei
  • Color: Black
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Meme is an adorable 5-6 yr. old black brushcoat shar-pei who would like to find a home where she can be the queen of the house- either as an only pet or with other dogs her own size. No cats. She does not seem to like large male dogs, but dogs of either sex who are her size (45-50 lbs.) or smaller are fine. She is living in a foster home in VT with other dogs. Older children would likely be alright, but she may not be tolerant of very young children. She is affectionate with family members, but new people are suspect to her and she will growl initially until she gets to know the person. Does NOT like to be crated. OK in the car, but not for long trips. She is reasonably housetrained as long as you can keep an eye on her and let her out frequently; she cannot hold her bladder very well for long stretches of time. She walks well on leash, but doesn't like to spend a lot of time outdoors. She is very much an indoor type of dog. If you have the right situation for Meme and interested in meeting her, please fill out an application at our site @ Meme is spayed, microchipped and current on core vaccines.

About Peis & Strays - VT

About Our Rescue Group...

Peis and Strays is a non-profit all-volunteer organization. It was established by a small group of individuals in the New England area with the intent of helping Chinese Shar Pei find loving homes.

Peis and Strays relies on donations, fund-raising activities and adoption fees for its income. We do not receive any state or federal funds. All donations directly benefit the dogs in our adoption program. We are a 501c3 organization, so your donations are tax deductible. We are always in need of donations and committed volunteers like ourselves. For more information about us, please email us at:

Come Meet Our Pets...

We do not have a shelter in any specific location, all of our dogs are cared for by foster families in their homes, across New England. Since the dogs are all cared for by private foster families, we ask that the adopter fill out an application before they meet a dog, to show that they are truly interested in adopting.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process includes an application (, a home visit and the vet reference. Further information about our adoption policies are located at:
