Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Winter is a loving 5-7 year old, 25 lb beagle with beautiful amber eyes, a soft coat, and an infectious smile. Winter found herself all alone, a starving, pregnant stray, as the coldest time of year set in. Luckily some kind people helped her find a safe and warm place just in time. She had an emergency C-section late on her very first night in the BREW program, but sadly her only baby was not born alive.
Since then this sweet, optimistic girl has found many new things to be excited about as she gets her first taste of the good life! She is delighted with being petted and having her tummy rubbed. She loves to go
for a car ride or a walk (she walks very nicely on her leash!), hang out in the yard, and will entertain herself for a very long time with treat dispensing toys. She also enjoys chewing on dog bones and sticks, but she has not been destructive at all in her foster home by chewing on anything else. She just loves having her very own bed and blanket too.
Most of all, Winter loves to snuggle. She wants nothing more than to cuddle up and rest her head on you as she gazes at you adoringly. Do you need a companion to cozy up next to you on the couch? It is cute to watch Winter quietly moving herself closer and closer to you for optimum cuddling. She may even squeeze in behind you and fall asleep in a sitting position wedged between your back and the couch!
She is very smart, and a bit of an escape artist as beagles sometimes are. She would probably really enjoy putting her intelligence to work by trying dog puzzle toys or learning tricks, and it would be fun for her forever family too!
We don’t know much about her background, but we do know that she started out life somewhere where she was just a number because she has an ear tattoo. Foster mom suspects she is still figuring out this thing called “living in a house” because there are a few pieces of furniture that seem to truly baffle her. She is crate trained and getting more consistent with house training outside the crate every day.
She has been a very responsible “mama” to her two toy “babies”, a stuffed cow and a stuffed frog, so we suspect she may have had litters of pups before.
Winter is not a barker, but when leaving her at home you may hear some whining for a 5-10 minutes before she settles down for a nap in her crate. She also might let you hear her beagle aroo if a dog walks past her yard, but it does not happen very often.
She takes a morning and an afternoon nap, and sleeps through the night in her crate.
She enjoys meeting new people and loves elementary school age and older children (although tiny children make her a bit nervous).
Winter is looking for a home where she can shine and continue to let her personality unfold. Do you have a place in your heart and on your couch for this love bug?
