NAME: John Mayer
AGE/GENDER: 6 Year Old, Male
BREED: Miniature Pinscher, Mix
TEMPERAMENT: Sweet, loyal, and low energy.
WEIGHT: 24 lbs
HOUSE TRAINING: Great!
CRATE TRAINING: John has some separation anxiety and prefers not to be crated.
OTHER DOGS: John is fostered with 2 other dogs, and attends Daycare which has been great for his socialization. At home he can be territorial but after some time and guidance, he has warmed up to the dogs in the home.
CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 8 and older
ADOPTION DONATION: $350
HEALTH: John Mayer came to us with a fractured pelvis, which has healed. He is not hindered or has any restrictions after healing from this trauma. As he ages, he will suffer from arthritis (as most dogs do) and should be given glucosamine chondroitin supplements to help his joints. John is neutered, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, and is current on vaccines. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as other incidental costs of care. In addition, all pets adopted from Motley Zoo come with a free 30 day trial of free pet insurance provided by 24PetWatch.
John Mayer was surrendered to Motley Zoo after his vet reached out to us after he had been hit by a car, fracturing his pelvis. We were asked to find John a great forever family and that is exactly what we plan to do!
NOTES FROM JOHN'S FOSTER HOME:
"John is incredibly sweet with people. He follows us around everywhere and always wants to be near by. He enjoys walking outside but he doesn't run very much. He is very calm and low energy, but shows great excitement when we pick him up from Dog Daycare (Motely Zoo studio).
John is very well house trained. He can go long periods in between potty sessions. When he needs to go, he lets us know by whining and pacing by the door. However, John does have separation anxiety. He is not a fan of the crate or being away from his people. When he is separated for a long time, he will occasionally have accidents due to his anxiety. He is getting better every day but it is a slow process for him. He used to be very uncomfortable in a car, but has made tons of progress and now does very well. We are hopeful that he will continue to gain more and more confidence in all areas of his life.
John can be territorial, so he needs strict guidance so that he is not overly protective. He is currently living with 2 other dogs and while at first he kept his distance and sometimes grumbled at them, after a few weeks he is now doing very well. Now he doesn't mind getting bumped into and in moments of excitement can even get very playful.
He loves wet food so we add a little bit of water to his kibble. He enjoys it very much! Also, even the tiny bit of peanut butter can make his day. :D"
All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and Martingale collar (or a harness, if necessary), depending on each dog's particular needs. We also send home additional flea treatment and deworming medication for your future use.
ABOUT MOTLEY ZOO:
Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is a volunteer run, foster based, 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization based in Redmond, WA. Motley Zoo does not have a traditional shelter location, but instead, utilizes private foster homes which care for the animals individually, in a home environment, until a "furever" home is found.
Motley Zoo also runs "Rock Star Treatment" Dog Daycare & Training Studio in Redmond, WA which is a day-use facility and does not hold kennels of adoptable animals. The dogs there are owned animals who come to the facility while their families are at work and school so they can play and socialize in a safe environment. We dub this service our "Year-round" fundraising program which helps us support our rescue animals and the $15,000/ month vet bills we incur. This Studio location does have an Adoptable Cat Lounge, where cats may live until adoption, which is the exception to any aforementioned rules.
Please email email@example.com and request an adoption application so we can get you started on the journey to finding a new, furry friend! Once you have been approved to adopt, then we can set up a meeting with the animal you have been matched with.
