NAME: Sammy Hagar
AGE/GENDER: ~10 years old, male
BREED: Cocker Spaniel
TEMPERAMENT: Affectionate, playful, goofy
WEIGHT: 20 lbs, but should gain 10 lbs
HOUSE TRAINING: Almost there!
CRATE TRAINING: Almost there!
OTHER DOGS: Loves other dogs! Sammy has great social skills and enjoys other dogs.
CATS: Wonderful! Sammy is very gentle with the foster's cat.
CHILDREN: Unknown, but we assume he would be gentle with kids.
HEALTH: Sammy is spay/neutered, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, and is current on vaccines. Like many Cocker Spaniels, Sammy has an ear infection that we are working on getting under control. Sammy was found as a stray and our vet is working closely with his foster parent to get his skin issues cleared up. Sammy's foot issue may clear up or it just may be the way he will always be. He has a different gait and is a bit uncoordinated, but does better once he gets going. A little TLC will get this sweet boy back on track. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as other incidental costs of care. In addition, all pets adopted from Motley Zoo come with a free 30 day  trial  of free pet insurance provided by 24PetWatch.
HISTORY: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to find Sammy a great forever family and that is exactly what we plan to do!
NOTES FROM SAMMY'S FOSTER HOME: Sammy is so sweet and goofy! He loves his toys, plays fetch well, and knows all his basic commands. He is very gentle and attentive. Sammy follows his people around everywhere and enjoys being part of a pack- human, canine, and feline! Belly scratches are his favorite thing, along with snuggles. He is not a barker, except when learning to stay alone in his crate. Sammy is a very easy dog and would make a great addition to any household.
All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and Martingale collar (or a harness, if necessary), depending on each dog's particular needs. We also send home additional flea treatment and deworming medication for your future use.
Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is a volunteer run, foster based, 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization based in Redmond, WA. Motley Zoo does not have a traditional shelter location, but instead, utilizes private foster homes which care for the animals individually, in a home environment, until a "furever" home is found.
Motley Zoo also runs "Rock Star Treatment" Dog Daycare & Training Studio in Redmond, WA which is a day-use facility and does not hold kennels of adoptable animals. The dogs there are owned animals who come to the facility while their families are at work and school so they can play and socialize in a safe environment. We dub this service our "Year-round" fundraising program which helps us support our rescue animals and the $15,000/ month vet bills we incur. This Studio location does have an Adoptable Cat Lounge, where cats may live until adoption, which is the exception to any aforementioned rules.
Please email and request an adoption application so we can get you started on the journey to finding a new, furry friend! Once you have been approved to adopt, then we can set up a meeting with the animal you have been matched with.

About Motley Zoo Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a an ALL volunteer group, including our executive director who does this full time, unpaid- approximately 80-100 hours of work. We do this because we love these pets and we need to be their voice- to take their best interest to heart, no matter the challenges and difficulties. We love these pets like our own- literally we dedicate our lives to them!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Check out our website for adoption events- there is a calendar on the right, event dates in red.

Our Adoption Process...

We have an adoption application required before meeting our pets, which includes an application, pictures of your residence and a piece of mail to corroborate the address.

We will process the application as it is received, usually taking a business day or so- this time is variable based on the current demands placed on our volunteers, which may be specific per pet.

We will contact you to tell you you are approved, and will arrange to set up a meeting with the pet of interest!
