My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a standard grey male chinchilla that is looking for his new home. His name is Weezy. Weezy came to the rescue a bit ago, and he is a special needs chinchilla.

Weezy is prone to seizures, likely due to low blood sugar, and this is why he was surrendered to us at the rescue. This boy only has seizures when let out to play – therefore, he cannot have playtime and he cannot have a wheel in his cage. For that matter, he shouldn’t have a super gigantic cage either, or he might get too much exercise in there. We can understand why his previous owner wanted to continue to let him out for playtime – when we took him out for pictures, he did act a bit stir crazy, but for his health, he can only run around his cage and be handled and petted, without actually being let loose to run for playtime. He’s relatively easy to scoop up when he’s in his cage, and he does sit relatively nicely in your arms. He’ll make a good pet for someone who doesn’t have the time for playtime, or doesn’t want a chin that needs to be let out for playtime. He’s a sweet boy and doesn’t bite.

Sorry, but Weezy will not come with a health guarantee, due to his seizure condition.

Weezy is actually quite a young chin – we are told he was born around November 2015, which makes him just over a year old.

We don’t know if Weezy gets along with other chins, but due to his condition and the fact that he can’t get too riled up, we would advise that he remain the “only chin” (at least, the only chin in the cage) and not be paired up.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Mazuri pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. He will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet, fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire, and provide proof of cage. If you are unwilling to do these things, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324).

The adoption fee for Weezy is $75
