Here's what the humans have to say about me:
There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter!
Alex, at just 17 weeks old and 17 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 30 - 35 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy with a great temperament..they rescued Alex just in time.
Alex is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with a gorgeous cream-colored coat with shades of pure white.
Alex is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's so smart and engaging...very typical of the cross of a Lab and a Border Collie . Alex is bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of his scary start.
Since Alex is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - Alex will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with great behavior.
We're open to Alex finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. Alex loves children as well...we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in play and fun. Kids can also be a part of a training regimen that's so important in a puppy's great future behavior.
Alex will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. We've requested that Alex be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Alex's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used.
Alex is currently in foster care in Boulder. If interested in this loving and devoted best friend please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
