My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Just like people, they can't all be perfect! But this one has a heart of gold and longs to be loved!

Basic Facts about Ava:
- 1.5-2 years old
- about 30-35 lbs.
- spayed, utd on vaccinations, etc.
- Not crate-trained
- Not consistent with house-training
- Absolutely hates cats (I'd say no small animals)
- Securely fenced yard required

Now, her story....
Ava arrived in rescue in August 2016. She was so frightened she would cower from touch and hide wherever she could. It was quite obvious that Ava was not overly familiar with humans. She quickly learned that her human would supply her with a safe place, food, water and love (that one took her longer to learn). Low-and-behold, Ava did turned out to be pregnant and gave birth to two beautiful little boys on 9/22. Both boys have been adopted by now and are living happily ever after while mom is still in fostercare.

After Ava's puppies were weaned and her hormones calmed down, she was introduced to her foster brothers and sisters. She made friends quickly and added "play with friends" to her every day bucket list. She checks off the box every few hours, in between naps :-)

Ava is a very smart girl. She has learned to come back into the house at the sound of her foster mom's whistle and wait for her treat. She is fairly quiet and has turned into a little lovebug. She is not overly cuddly (or she won't push other dogs out the way to get to "mom") but she does enjoy attention.

Ava is looking for a family that will be patient and allow her the time to realize she is also safe, will be fed, has somewhere cozy to sleep, etc. She is still frightened when taken out in public or to the vet. So for now, she wouldn't be a dog that is happy going on a walk. She's needs time to adjust to that. Ava also benefits from a reward-based system. Any negative attention would simply frighten her and make her take a few steps back from trusting you.

Ava will continue to work on her confidence while in rescue but we welcome anyone who truly wants to know that feeling of rehabilitating a dog and having a trusted, loving companion in the end to step forward. It would be great for Ava to learn an bond in a furever home instead of a foster home. She doesn't know she will one day have to leave. She is making great progress and if you never saw her outside the house, you'd think she's the perfect dog.

If you have any questions about Ava, give us a shout!

If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application located at
https://dogsunlimited.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application-for-dogs-unlimited-rescue/

All Dogs Unlimited Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all shots, and are given a monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Upon adoption, all vet records and any current medications are provided to the adopter.

THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN ADOPTION NOR DOES IT OBLIGATE YOU TO ADOPT. Multiple applications are accepted for any available pet and a home is chosen that is the best match between the available pet and the potential furever family. Your application will be processed as quickly as possible and if approved, a home visit would be scheduled. No adoption is final until an Adoption Agreement is presented and agreed to by both parties.

Our goal is to find the right match of our dogs to their new family so all involved are furever happy! Questions: email adopt@dogsunlimitedrescue.org

And THANK YOU for considering a rescue dog for your family!
