Estimated Date of Birth: December 18, 2015

Eve was hit by a car, picked up as a stray by Douglas County Animal Control, and ended up at Kaye Animal Hospital. She had a broken pelvis, hip and front leg. She was in a lot of pain and the pound was opting to euthanize her due to the severity of her injuries, but the vet called us. Luckily, a foster family stepped up for Eve and we were able to take Eve in. We sent Eve to our vet, but Dr Leathers felt as if she would be better off at GVS as he does not have the equipment needed to fix her pelvis. We then took Eve to Georgia Veterinary Specialists to be examined. From the x-rays, it looks as if she had been walking around like that for 2 to 3 weeks as the bones are starting to try to heal. Because her injuries are so old and have begun to heal, the orthopedic surgeon at GVS wants to wait a month to see how it will affect her growth plate. We may have to amputate her rear leg and surgically straighten her broken front leg. On top of her complications from being hit by a car, Eve was skin scraped and diagnosed with demodex mange.
Though her injuries were painful and horrific, Eve has been an absolute angel and all she wants to do is stand up and give you kisses! She is the sweetest, most loving little lady. Eve had surgery on August 1st to plate and repair her front leg and had 3 months to completely heal. She is amazingly resilient and even outfitted with her cast and cone, she could not wait to get home to play. Eve has healed beautifully. Medically speaking, Eve is doing exceptionally well! Despite the trauma to her back hip and pelvis, she uses her back leg well. Our vet feels that she could potentially develop a little arthritis in that leg as she gets older. She also has some nerve damage from the accident so she has a tiny bladder and needs to go out more frequently when active or she may have an accident. She does not have accidents in her crate and when loose in the house overnight. Eve is a smart cookie and has learned sit and she is working on stay. She is crate trained and house trained. She does okay on a leash for short walks, but she does pull some. Eve has the sweetest disposition and loves to give kisses. She also really loves pillows-the more the better! She will get the occasional zoomies, but is also very happy to snuggle up and nap on the couch. Eve would love a home with another dog the play and snuggle with as she adores her canine foster sister. She lives with a cat in foster care although she does like to chase the kitty so a cat-less home is probably best. Eve would likely do best with older children as she is still a bouncy fun-loving puppy at heart.
