My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hughes is the only one left from the Poets kittens; they were born 7/18/16, and were discovered at about 2 1/2 weeks old in a feral colony on which we were doing TNR (trap-neuter-return). These kittens had the misfortune to suffer from horrible eye infections during their short time in the colony, which left them vision impaired; Hughes is the only one that was able to keep both eyes. As if that weren't bad enough, they also had a ringworm fungal infection which required treatment for a couple of months! As soon as they were finished with all of their various surgeries, eye, and ringworm treatments, the two girls were adopted, but Hughes is still waiting for that special someone who doesn't mind a furry guy who is a little bit different from other cats.

Hughes, a black shorthaired boy, was luckiest in the litter - although he has some corneal scarring and clouding, he was able to keep both eyes and has enough vision to keep him zipping around after a wand toy. Although his eyes were less damaged than his sisters', he was the weakest kitten and needed to be bottle fed for a few weeks to supplement the nutrition he received while nursing. Then he decided to start eating solid food, and he really blossomed. He is fitting in just fine with the other cats in his Room 1 group, and should do well in pretty much any type of family. He should remain an indoor-only cat for life.

All kittens arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and with all age-appropriate vaccinations. Adoption fee for Hughes is suggested minimum $40 (more gratefully accepted). Discount available for pair adoptions! All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
