My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BOB is a 4 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 49 pounds Bob is easy going dog that loves to be with you. So far he hasn't been interested in playing with toys or retrieving but that will come with time now that he is with Lab Rescue. He is a delightful dog, full of personality who loves to be with you. As you can see in his video at he is a very happy dog. He would love a family that has a house with a yard they can play with her in and give him the love and attention he deserves. We will have more information on him soon as he is going to a foster shortly. Good with other dogs, has been out with other Lab Rescue pups at the kennel with no problems. Knows sit, come and sometimes down. Pulls some on lead when walking better with an Easy Walk Harness. He is reported as house and crate trained and is keeping his room clean at the kennel
Bob's story - He was an owner give up to the shelter because his elderly owner couldn't care for him any longer because of his health., Owner was overjoyed that he was coming to Lab Rescue. He is approved for kids 10+. More info soon!

Adopters must meet these requirements:
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home
Fencing: Need physical or underground fence. Not chain link as he will climb it when chasing critters.

Update: Bob is back from his foster as they had one section of the yard that had a 3 foot chain link fence which he can climb with no problems when he is after a squirrel. They blocked off that section and he hasn't tried to get over the 4 foot wooden fence. They were afraid he would get around the temporary fence if he was chasing a squirrel. Bob is energetic, inquisitive and alert; He is even tempered, handsome and has soft, shiny coat; feathered tail and a regal prance when he walks: He hasn't barked much even when delivery men come to the house: Does not jump on people or get on our sofa or beds: Not food aggressive and takes treats gently: Friendly toward people and other dogs: Rides well in car: Likes to be petted: Likes being outdoors: Enjoys walks on leash: Is house and crate trained: He is just learning to play with toys. Cons: Is obsessed with squirrels and pulls on leash when he sees one A lot better with an Easy Walk Harness. Counter surfs some. We think Bob could stand some more training. Watch him at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahgRluZgIEU . Bob has been very good with us and has bonded with my husband we are sorry to bring him back. He is a really sweet boy who would like a family that will work with him and has a fenced yard so he can get some exercise without being on leash. They will be greatly rewarded.

This dog is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.
