Tobias was picked-up as a stray by the Hayward Shelter. He hadn't been groomed in a long time, as his coat was quite dirty and matted. He had a some difficulty passing sections of the shelter's temperament testing - food bowl / treat guarding.
In the first day of his foster home, he proved to be a VERY ACTIVE, very playful dog. Even though he had been neutered that same day, he still wanted to hump anything and everything. He didn't respond well to corrections or discipline, and the foster family confirmed that he wasn't comfortable interacting with humans while he ate.
However, by the second day he was beginning to understand what was acceptable behavior and what wasn't. He is beginning to trust his foster family enough to be petted while eating, but he still has a little ways to go in that area.
He loves playing with the other dogs in his foster home (large and small), and he is learning that "no means no" if he gets too rambunctious. He enjoys hanging out with the humans, sitting on a lap.
Because of his previous history with food and treat guarding, we are going to recommend a home with out small children.
