*****IMPORTANT: TootsiePop is NOT AVAILABLE for adoption at this time, and will NOT be present at HFE events at this time. She is with a temporary foster, but will need a calm, quiet long-term foster home to see her through heartworm treatment. Thank you!*****
This sweet emaciated girl was found living in an abandoned garage. She was laying on an old mattress with debris scattered all around her. Our volunteers went to try and help get her out of the cold and could clearly see how emaciated she looked. Once she was taken to a safe, warm foster home, she enjoyed a good meal, but then proceeded to vomit up rocks and pieces of tin foil, the garbage she had been surviving on. TootsiePop acts like a young puppy at her foster house. She relaxed quickly and in the first week has shown great progress. She's eating, playing with toys, and learning her basic manners quickly. She loves getting pet and being a lap dog. And she is eager to give kisses and play. TootsiePop has not been tested with dogs or cats yet.
Sadly we learned that TootsiePop is heartworm positive, and will have to go through treatment once she gains some weight. The vet estimates her age at about 3 years old, and she has had puppies in the past. TootsiePop will have to be kept calm while she undergoes the long, difficult treatment for heart worm. She will not be available for adoption for several months.
Donations are welcome to help pay for her vet appointments and costly treatment.
