My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Boy, it doesn't come much cuter than this.. Trooper is a little poodle mix approx 2 years old and 7. 8 lbs. This poor little boy was surviving on the streets and was just a matted mess. We had to have our groomer shave him down to even see what his true color was. He actually is a cream/apricot color and his coat is starting to grow in really well...He had to have FHO surgery on one of his back legs and is just starting to be able to go up the stairs. He still doesn't like to go down, but he gets around great and loves to play with his foster buddies. He is a very sweet and loving little dog, seems to be pretty well house trained, walks well on a leash and is getting along really well with his foster's own dogs. As he did have surgery and is very small we require a home with older children. He tested positive for heart worms and was treated with the required series of injections and, he has also been started on a monthly heartworm preventative. He is a mix and not hypo allergenic.

The total adoption donation of $475 and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. The application is online at http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/application-process/

Just as a note, if you are in Massachusetts and are adopting directly from Texas rather than from a local foster, there are new quarantine laws in effect. All rescues must be quarantined 48 hours at a state run facility, and in addition, a second interstate health certificate is required to be issued by a Massachusetts vet. This new law may add an additional cost.
