My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nova: 6 Year Old Spayed Chocolate Female Lab 65 Pounds

Asher: 6 Year Old Neutered Black Male Lab 80 Pounds

GGLRR got a call from Fresno Lab rescue to see if we could help with two labs that a good Samaritan found in the Fresno area wandering around on a rural road. The labs had been sighted for over a week on this road and in the general area. She did everything she could to find the owner, to reach out to rescues or a no kill shelter as she knew due to some medical issues and due to their age they may not make it out of a regular shelter. She finally tracked down the owner who was in jail for possible murder. (She contacted the authorities and they said the owner has now lost all rights to the dogs and they are available immediately. The person who found the dogs knew something was going on as the dogs did not want to leave a certain area and the area they were hanging around used to be the area where the owner lived. When the owner went to jail the dogs were let go to fend for themselves.)

GGLRR decided the two dogs were wonderful dogs and needed to find a wonderful new home for 2017!

They are very friendly, well trained and well behaved dogs. The person who found them had them around her dogs and they did fine. We are not sure how they will do in a home with cats but they did play with the neighbors small dogs. They are very people friendly, they follow her off leash on her property and will come when she calls them. They love to go for car rides, they tolerate people touching them all over, they will sit, come and they respond to quiet and off. They do not jump up on people, they are fine with food with other dogs and people, they like to fetch and they are fine when you grab their collar. They have pretty good leash skills, seem to be house trained and over all seem to be well balanced dogs.

We currently have them at our boarding facility and they say they are very sweet dogs. They get out and play with the other dogs at the kennel and they have not had any issues with them.

Medical:

We will be getting all their medical done on Monday 01/16. Well checks, blood work, microchip, fecal and we will decide if we may need to amputate Asher’s leg. We think he broke his leg when he was young and it never got fixed. His front left leg bends in; in two pieces. This does not slow him down and he is not in pain but we do not want him to have any issues due to the stress being put on his other legs.

If you are looking for two very sweet dogs to join your family, please email Rescue Rep Liz at liz@jobshopsf.com.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
