My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Tequila and I reckon that I have as much love to throw at you as some of the chubby, sweet-faced, puppies that are also up for adoption. At nine years old, I’m well past all that puppy nonsense and I know what it takes to be an upstanding member of a pack. My family decided that they couldn’t keep me any longer – no point going into details, it doesn’t change anything. I get along great with other dogs and cats; older children who know how to treat a senior dog with respect would be wonderful. I still have plenty of love to give and many years of companionship to offer to a laid-back family longing for a little buddy . My best qualities are that I am affectionate, sensitive, and eager to please – and like a fine wine, I get better with age. Pugs are not high energy but I do still like to work on my fitness, so walks around the neighborhood or strolls through nature would be good for me. Folks sometimes have the mistaken notion that if you don't raise a dog from scratch, you'll only have trouble. Nothing could be further from the truth. There are definite advantages to the older dog. For one thing, I’ll be more than happy to let you finish your second cup of coffee in the morning before you have to take me for a walk. Far more so than with a puppy, an adult dog is a "what you see is what you get" proposition. One last thought about the "second-hand" dog. A dog of any age can be trained and will adapt to -- and be a loving, loyal companion for -- a new family. So, take a second look at me, we just might be meant for each other. Please fill in the adoption form if you would like to adopt me. Remember, the name is Tequila.

“Old dogs are like old shoes. They might be a bit out of shape and a little worn around the edges but they fit well.”
