My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sammie is 1 of 4 cats I am fostering and have put up for adoption.
I have had Sammie in my home since Aug. 2016.
Two years ago a stray cat showed up in our yard and we began feeding her.
She became pregnant, and of her 4 kittens, only 2 survived.
They were all still hanging around the yard, when winter was fast approaching, which worried me because I could not get very near to them. So I bought them an outdoor cat shelter with a low-voltage heater and put it on our deck so they would be safe from predators. They made it through the winter just fine and the babies grew into beautiful kitties. One was black and white, just like her mother. The black and white one is Annabelle, also posted on this website. The other one was all black, and that one is Isabella. Now, mommy raised her 2 babies and not soon after, she moved on and became pregnant again. Wow! Now we knew we had to do something quick! We let mommy raise her 4 new babies and crossed our fingers hoping no more babies would appear. Now, Mommy cat was not really hanging around her babies much anymore anyway and they appeared to be abandoned by her. They were staying close to our house.
We decided to trap them all and get them fixed, including Mommy cat.
It was obvious Mommy was not happy indoors so after 2 weeks we released her.
So, we had 6 kitties inside and we adopted 2 out, and now have 4 left. They are all on this website: Annabelle, Isabella, Annie, and Sammie. All showed positive signs that they could be socialized.

Sammie is coming along the most slowly, and he will make a beautiful pet for someone who is willing to give him the time to adjust. He is a handsome silver mackerel tabby with beautiful markings. He really wants to be social but is taking baby steps at trusting humans. A quiet household would be best for him. He loves his sisters and they all pile on top of each other into the dog bed I bought them, and groom each other. Sammie greets me when I come home from work, runs downstairs at feeding time, especially whenever I have chicken for dinner (I always give him a piece or 2 and he loves it), and comes upstairs and jumps up on my clothes hamper to watch TV with me in the evening. He is also quite the curious boy and loves to stand up on his hind legs against the HD widescreen TV to watch old TCM movies. He is OK with being petted if you approach him slowly, but still very cautious and may hiss at times, signaling that he is scared. As of yet, he does not want to be picked up so I don’t. He is not a lap cat. I can tell that eventually he will come around with a patient owner but it will take time. I marvel at what a beautiful animal he is. I can imagine that once he finally does trust that one important person in his life, he will be your loyal companion for life. He is good with my cat and all his sisters, and he is OK with my dog Pepper too.
