My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BUCK is an 11 month old neutered fox red male Lab who weighs 63 pounds. Buck & Gator are very nice dogs who like to play and get attention. They are calm for being so young. Gator is the leader and the first to investigate new things and Buck is close behind to help him. They are nice bookends, if you sit on the ground one will come up on either side of you and lean into you like to get attention. Gator will retrieve a ball or toy and Buck will go over and try to steal it from him so he can bring it back. They lived in farming country and loved to swim in creeks and irrigation ponds. They are playful, smart and quick to catch on to the routine. They kennel staff says they like to play with but come in to their rooms when called without having to be leashed. They need a home with a fenced yard so they can play without being able to wandering off which they tended to do at their old home. Kids 5 and up, 5 year old Granddaughter lived with them. Good with other dogs. Owner had several outside cats, they would chase them but not hurt them. They know sit, kennel (go into crate) and are trained to come when you clap your hands 3 times. Can use some additional training as do most young dogs so will have training addendums. Love to go on walks, do well with Easy Walk Harness especially if you’re walking both at the same time. Crate and house trained. They go to the door when they need to go out Gator and Buck are owner give ups to Lab Rescue. Owners are both teachers and are involved with a lot of after school sports and activities and are gone from 10-12 hours a day/ Owners got the pups when one of their daughters was living with them and was able to spend a lot of time. Daughter went to college so there is no one home most of the day. They did not want to turn them into shelter and contacted one of our volunteers who brought them in for us. He is approved for kids 5+. More info soon!

Adopters must meet these requirements:
Gator & Buck are a bonded pair they are siblings who have been together since they were puppies and must be adopted together.
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home
Fencing: Must have physical or underground fence.

This dog is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.

This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and northeast North Carolina (30 miles east of I-95 and north of the Pamlico Sound) Adopters must travel to Maryland, Virginia or Washington DC with their family - human and canine - to meet the dog they want to adopt.

Lab Rescue LRCP has between 50 - 80 dogs available for adoption from foster homes across Maryland and Virginia and at monthly adoption events. The adoption event dates are listed at www.lab-rescue.org.

If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.lab-rescue.org and complete an adoption application. Within a few days of submitting an application you will hear from an Adoption Coordinator who will guide you through the adoption process.

An adoption fee is charged to cover the cost of veterinary care and a home visit is required.
