My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you one of those people that are addicted to sweets?
If so, Nutmeg is your girl. She's absolutely the sweetest dog ever.

Every year on Christmas Day Nutmeg's rescuers go to brunch and then go feed homeless dogs. While feeding at a park in Northeast Houston that is a known dumping ground for unwanted dogs they spotted Nutmeg. She came crawling up to them on her belly and rolled over. They both knew there was no way they could leave this sweetheart out there to fend for herself so they decided to give her a freedom ride. Before they could get her loaded in the truck some other dogs chased her into the woods.
Christmas night the thought of her being out there weighed heavy on their hearts. Bright and early the next morning they drove to the park to look for her. Nutmeg must have known they were coming back for her because she was curled up on a pile of leaves where they parked the day before. They quickly scooped her up and gave her the freedom ride she deserved.

Nutmeg has paid her rescuer back by being one of the most affectionate and easiest foster dogs ever! She's the type of dog that wants to be one with her human. When she's close to you she melts into you. If your lap is available she'll be more than happy to curl up on it. Oh and if you're looking for a championship bed buddy Nutmeg fits that bill too. She also loves toys and playing fetch.
Unfortunately because Nutmeg's previous owner did not properly care for her she is light heartworm positive. She has been started on a slow kill protocol and her rescuer will provide medication and direction needed to continue her on her treatment plan. She has no symptoms or side effects. She will just need to be giving a small amount of medication monthly until she test negative.

Nutmeg has been fully vaccinated and will be spayed and microchipped soon. She is 2-2 1/2 years olds and weighs approximately 50 lbs.
If Nutmeg is your girl, please email her rescuer at 2215airline@sbcglobal.net.
Her adoption fee is $200. She is available for transport via United Petsafe for an additional $275.00.
