My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Kalie" is a 5-yo spayed female GSD mix (appears to be mixed w/ a hound of some type) who is sweet, affectionate, and well-behaved--both inside and out.

Kalie loves people and is great w/ strangers. She is exceptionally gentle with her foster caretaker’s two young daughters (5 & 2). Kalie takes treats from hands gently and is not possessive of food or objects.

Kalie is fine with other dogs, unlike her 6-yo GSD mother "Kira" who she lives with. Because of Kira's reactiveness towards other dogs, Kalie & Kira's foster caretakers keep their two dogs separated.

Kalie is good with cats, so we WILL consider a home with cats for her.

Kalie has great house manners and loves being inside with her people. She likes laying on the couch with the two young girls or on the floor near her foster “dad” when he works in his office. She usually sleeps on the couch in the spare bedroom with Kira.

Kalie is fine when left outside—no excessive barking or digging issues. She walks well on leash and obeys basic commands. Kalie is a good passenger in a car.

Kalie & Kira belonged to a man named Stevie who lived in rural Oakhurst, just outside of Yosemite Natl Park. Stevie got Kira when she was just a pup. She gave birth to Kalie a year later, and the two dogs have been together ever since.

Stevie became very ill and passed away on Nov 12, 2016. Kalie & Kira were taken to the animal shelter in San Francisco. The two dogs did not do well in the shelter, and on Dec 17, GSRSV received a request from Sonnet, a friend of Stevie’s best friend Michelle, to rescue Kalie & Kira. Michelle had been networking to try to get Kalie & Kira adopted from the shelter.

GSRSV rescued Kalie & Kira on 12-23-16, and Michelle & Sonnet brought the two dogs to a foster home in Danville, where they are happily residing now.

Kalie & Kira are available for adoption separately, but it would be nice if they could stay together. Separately, Kalie’s adoption fee is $160 and Kira’s is $210. However, if the two dogs are adopted together, their adoption fee is still only $210.
