My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Good With Kids: A quiet home without children is best for this sweet girl..
Good With Other Dogs: Yes
Good With Cats: Yes but likes to chase. Dog savvy cats best.
House trained: Yes
Crate Trained: Yes
Walks Nicely On A Leash: Yes on no-pull harness
Knows Basic Commands: Yes. Sit, down, shake, leave it, working on stay
Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High): Moderate
Special Needs: N/A

Arrival story: Diamond was surrendered to the River Rouge Animal Shelter by her owner that used her to breed pups to sell. Diamond and another pregnant female dog didn’t get along. Since her pups were weaned, she was the one to go. Diamond was supposed to go "on vacation" to a foster home for the week of Thanksgiving, and was supposed to go back after getting spoiled, but her foster couldn't let the sweet girl go back to the shelter.

Approximate Age / Weight: Approx 2.5 Year Old / 50 lbs.

Personality: Diamond is such a love! She will do anything to make her people happy and loves to be around them. She is a little shadow and so smart. Diamond is smart, has already picked up on many basic commands and is learning her house manners. She loves to play in the yard and go on walks, but knows how to snuggle or chew on a bone when it's time to chill. She is a powerful chewer and can dismantle a tennis ball in seconds if you stop playing fetch with her!

Diamond is still a little timid of new things and might bark at things like loud noises and strangers, but she warms up very quickly once she is properly introduced. She gets along with other dogs well, but cares more about her human companions. Diamond does find comfort in having canine friends when no humans are around.

Forever home: Active person or couple who will continue to help Diamond build confidence and be the awesome companion she was meant to be. Diamond would prefer a quiet home. She needs an outlet for play and mental stimulation each day so a physically fenced yard is ideal for romping and playing fetch. No electric fences, please.
