Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET BENJI! Benji is an 18 month old energetic, happy, fun, and loving sweetheart who wants all of your attention. Benji is a terrier mix and weighs about 14 lbs. He loves playing with stuffed animals and squeaky balls, and running all around. Due to his past it takes him a little while to warm up to people. He will require a very special person who is willing to help him overcome the issues he has due to his past. Benji would do best in a quiet home where there are not frequent visitors. He is very leery and untrusting of strangers and can become very defensive towards them, until he warms and realizes he can trust them. He trusts women more than men, but warmed up quite well to his foster dad in just a couple of days once he realized he could trust him. The best home for Benji would be one with a female present and no children or other animals. He may be able to be in a home with a calm, non-dominate dog, who likes playing with other dogs, but we would need to test him with the dog before considering. He gets very worked up and defensive by other dogs barking, getting overly excited, or grumbling at him, and other dogs can become annoyed at his excited personality. He has been able to successfully play with one of his foster siblings, but not other dogs in that home. He cannot be in a home with cats as he has a strong prey drive toward them. A completely fenced yard would be preferable as he does have a lot of energy, but if you ensure he gets proper exercise with walks and playtime, it may not be necessary. Benji also hates crates and cages of any kind. He is house trained, walks well on a leash, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have the heart and patience to help this sweet-loving boy, and believe you can provide him with the type of environment described, please fill out an application.
