Joe Brownie Puerto Rico's Story...
Whew! Looooong Flight!
Joe Brownie was born about November 4, 2015 and weighs about 12 lbs. This little tiny thing is ABSOLUTELY adorable! And he is just as sweet as he looks. His foster mom said he has good potty habits and no accidents and made the entire flight without an accident! However, we always like to warn that these tiny dogs do often benefit from potty floor pads throughout their lives for those moments that they just can't hold it any longer. Joe Brownie sure does love his belly rubbed! Anyway we are glad he did well on the flight here and there is a lucky human out there that is going to love him to pieces! Little Joe did test positive for ehrlichia (tick borne disease) and even though he was showing no signs of active disease the veterinarian in P.R. would like him on a 14 day course of minocycline. This med was taped to the top of his flight crate, but disappeared as likely someone thought it had some street value, it does not. The foster mom is giving the meds faithfully and she has also noticed that he seems to have a luxating patella which causes him to walk with one rear leg up at times. We understand the newest opinion in the veterinary world is not to surgically repair these as these tiny dogs have them so often and do well just holding up the leg when they feel the need. He is fun, funny, playful and we feel he'd do fantastic as an only dog in his next life - he just loves his humans so much! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $100.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES
We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
Our primary goals here at Joyful Rescues are to re-home pets and save them from becoming homeless in the future, educate the public on pet care and spaying/neutering to control the pet overpopulation, to spay/neuter every pet before they leave us and spay/neuter as many pets, belonging to the public, as possible within our means.
