Wayne's Story...
Wayne is a sweet but fearful boy, right now. He was saved from a local shelter where he'd been taken as part of a hoarding case and he has been somewhat traumatized by the experience. He has a wonderful foster who's spending lots of time socializing him and working on increasing his confidence. He's a true rescue dog in every sense of the word and will require a patient, kind and compassionate adopter who is willing to let him ease into a relationship and learn to trust again. He is not aggressive, just unsure of himself. He has had no accidents and appears to be potty trained. He doesn't like going into a kennel but will stay quietly once he's there. To meet Wayne, complete an application at waalrescue.org/adoptions. Wayne DOES NOT do well with cats.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Wayne, a Wichita Pointer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pointer for sale in Wichita, or seeking a Pointer dog from a breeder in Wichita.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wichita already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wichita breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pointer breeders who help with Pointer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wichita paves the way for another one to be saved.
