Meet Bear!
This happy-go-lucky guy has a darling personality and loves people. He is VERY SMART, social, wants to please, and engages with his people positively. He loves to RUN, be with his people and of course be outdoors to run some more :) He is hyper alert of his environment and has a very keen sense of animals, sounds and movement.
Bear is a clever boy and will need good fencing to keep him safe. He is not a jumper or digger, he just a good instinct for locating weak spots at the bottom of the fence.
He would enjoy a partner dog to play/pack up with - probably a dog his size or bigger would be best. He is approx. He is 40-45 lbs and will probably gain a little more weight when he is done growing. He loves to work and will drop/lay down and listen for the next command when he gets a little sideways in the house. He has a special corner of the couch that he knows is his safe zone, so he goes there often when he gets a little rambunctious:)
Bear will need some corrections to be feline safe. He has a prey drive that shows itself with kitties and small dogs. Not mouthy just chasing/barking and knowing he is a little bigger than his friends which gives him an advantage.
At this time, Bear probably would not be great around small children. With adults, he jumps up for attention and wraps his front paws around your leg as a way to get your extra focus. He is not aggressive, but can be somewhat physical and slow to respect boundaries. He does know the down command and will correct, but enjoys that selective hearing that a lot of dogs use at times :)
His best home is a place where he gets off leash, daily run time mixed with a human personal interest like jogging, hiking, running by the side of a bicycle, etc. Once he runs, he calms way down and is a very good boy.
We recommend he not be left in the backyard or in the house by himself initially but to have someone home or doggy day care set up until he graduates house/yard training. He is a Curious George and will find a way into the shed, garage, etc. and drag his item of interest out into the yard for further viewing.
Bear is such a great project dog - he will move thru his training very quickly. He didn't have good structure or focused attention initially, which is what these easy to correct issues stem from.
