Hi, my name is Hogan. My person surrendered me to IACS. I was a bit of mess because I had horrible teeth, and my left rear leg had been broken for a long time! I don't know why my former person didn't get me help when I needed it. Anyway, the Chihuahua Rescue folks came to get me right away. I now live with my foster mom, 6 other dogs and a cat; I get on fine with all of them. It's a cool place, but I'd really love to have a fur-ever home with my own person.

Chihuahua Rescue says: we got Hogan's teeth fixed right away. He was very quiet and subdued before that, but so HAPPY the day after the surgery. He only has 11 teeth left, but he can eat dry kibble and Greenies just fine now. Hogan voluntarily spends most of his day quietly in his crate. He's reliably potty trained to the outside. He isn't very active, but can run and do just about anything now that his broken leg has been fixed. He doesn't use the leg, but we no longer have to worry about the broken bone poking through the skin. He's a sweet boy who likes cuddles and car rides. He's quiet most of the time, but announces strange dogs and people when he sees them.

Hogan weighs 8 lbs, and is estimated to be about 8 years old. His adoption fee is $250 (Seniors for Seniors is $200).

About Chihuahua Rescue Indiana- Indianapolis Chapter

About Our Rescue Group...

Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. is a non profit, all volunteer rescue working with Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. The pets are housed in individual volunteer foster homes, not kennels or shelters until they are adopted permanently. We get to know our animals and therefore can tell the potential adopter what the traits of the animal are and what home would be the best for the pet. We are dedicated to the adoption, education, rescue and transportation of the Chihuahua breed. We believe that every Chihuahua deserves a loving home.

Donate to Our Rescue Group...

Donations are up to the individual and are made to a not for profit organization.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We hold adoption events at local Petsmarts, Pet Supply Plus, and Petcos. The dates are fluid and they do coincide with the nationally advertised adoption events at the locales.

Our Adoption Process...

**If you are unable to pay the adoption fee, we are unable to place a dog in your care. Being unable to meet the financial obligations of pet care (recurrent or emergent) is one of many reasons why so many of these pets end up in rescue. It's not lack of love.**
We require an adoption inquiry, and then we will check references. We also check with vets. If the person is not LOCAL then we will partner with a local animal control or Humane Society to do a home visit and give us the go ahead to adopt.
There are adoption fees associated with the costs of veterinary care of the pet. We require an adoption contract to be signed to finalize the adoption process and we have an agreement that all our pets are to be Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. pets for LIFE. In other words, in the event that they can not stay in their adoptive home, they are not to be surrendered to another individual or rescue.
