My foster mom named me Twiggy when she got me because I was as skinny as a twig! I don't know when I had eaten last. But after six weeks as a K-9 Angel I am happy, healthy and ready for my "furever" home.
My favorite things in life are: walks, playing with my toys or a ball, and snuggling, usually in that order. I love to explore the neighborhood and get so excited when I see my leash that I dance on my back legs! Toys are so much fun and I love to play fetch with a tennis ball although I am still learning to bring the ball back. After that, I am ready to snuggle as close as I can get to you.
I am completely house trained and have never had an accident. I am also crate trained and sleep in my comfy bed in my crate at night or if my family is away. I bet I would love to sleep in the bed next to you if you want me to. I have never chewed anything that is not mine.
I get along great with my foster dog brother who is 70 pounds. There are two cats here. I know I'm not supposed to chase and bark at them, but most of the time I forget. I like to be a little guard dog and bark when people come up to the house or I hear strange noises outside, but I quiet right down when you tell me to.
Sometimes it takes me a little while to warm up to new people, but with some treats I'll be your best friend in no time.
My foster mom says she is the easiest dog she's ever had! I can't wait to find my forever family and show them how great I am.
Twiggy is a Female Basenji / Chihuahua Mix that we estimate to be born around January 18, 2016 and weighs 16 lbs.
PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.
OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered.
SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one’s pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready.
NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian.
