When I meet you, I may not approach you right away. Don't get me wrong. It's not that I don't like your company. It's not because that I am scared, either.
Actually, I am dying to get hugs from people and I can sit on the lap whole day.
However, I stayed at shelter then at the foster place long enough to understand that all my friends want the same affection. So, I stand back and wait for my turn patiently. That's why my foster mom calls me Mr. Considerate.
It's been a year since I stayed with my foster mom. I love her dearly but I am ready to have my very own family to share all the fun and love.
Chico is currently under foster care in group home setting in Korea. We plan on bringing him to Northern Virginia in late February upon finding a forever family for him.
Prior to rescue, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization and it takes time for them to learn about life as a family pet. Common skills such as house training and leash walking may often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 8 years old.
A home check is mandatory before adoption.
Adoption fee is $300.
We adopt to residents of Northern VA and Washington DC suburbs only.
If interested in Chico, please email us with a little info about you, your family, your other pets, your experience as a dog owner (which breed, etc.), where you live (which city, home or apt?), etc. including telephone number. Thank you.
*** About us ***
Hope For Donghae Paws(HDP) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to bringing rescue dogs from Korea to the US and finding permanent homes for them. It is true there are many animal lovers in Korea, but still many dogs suffer and are killed for food.
Our mission is to find US homes for mixed-breed dogs whose chances of being adopted in their native Korea are very low.

You'll receive a copy, too, at to help you keep track of which pets you've inquired about, and which shelters and rescues you've emailed.
NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter! Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures, on the pet's details page on Adopt-a-Pet.com.
