Calm, Loving, Social Hazel is a delight! She is laid-back and loves for you to pet her. In fact, if you stop petting her before she thinks you should, she will reach out to you with her paw, asking, 'More, please!' She isn't crazy about sitting in your lap, but will sleep right next to your head at night. Hazel has long legs, a long body, and beautiful blue-gray medium-long fur; we think she could be part Maine Coon. She has a meow that rivals a Siamese meow, and will use it to tell you she wants something - so hop to it! She is a senior girl and partially deaf, but still plays with a felt mouse toy, feather toys, and string toys. Then she will seek out the perfect sunbeam to nap in. Hazel has Chronic Renal Disease, which means her kidneys are not functioning as well as they once were. This condition is so common in older cats that APA! offers a special adoption package for them. However, you wouldn't know she has renal disease just by observing her - she is not exhibiting any outward signs! Read more about renal failure and adoption details here: http://www.austinpetsalive.org/2016/03/lives-worth-saving-cats-in-renal-failure Previous to her stay with APA!, Hazel had been declawed. As a result of this she must remain an indoor cat. Hazel easily ignores the dogs and other cats in her foster home; she is mellow and lets things roll on around her without any drama. We haven't seen her around kids, but she would probably be equally chill with cat-experienced children. She might be happier as an only cat, though, just so she can monopolize all of your petting and loving! Hazel is a beauty with a charming, endearing personality! Contact us today to arrange a meet & greet. All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
