My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Canela!

She is a Pit Bull Terrier mix, weighs about 44 pounds and is 3 years old. Canela currently lives in a foster home and has come a long way. We don’t know what happened to her in the past but it left deep scars in her soul. The good news is: she is healing and leaving the painful memories behind. She used to be very fearful and just did not enjoy life. Her foster mom has helped her a great deal to become more trusting and showed her that life is actually not all that bad.

Canela now enjoys romping around in the yard and playing fetch. She could be a great jogging buddy! She is an avid swimmer and likes to lounge by the pool with her mom. Her foster mom said that Canela has become a true love bug and just won’t stop kissing her. She will sit for treats, is crate-trained, leash-trained, and potty-trained. She is good with older kids but no dogs or cats please.

While Canela is still wary of new people and will take some time to get to know you, she already has made best friends with the yard man. How many dogs do you know of that are friends with the yard man? She will joyfully roll around in the grass each time he arrives. He has no other choice but to get down with her and be showered with kisses. She is a very loving pup once she knows you. She is eager to please her human and even graduated from advanced obedience class. The trainer said she is an extremely smart dog and was easy to train. He has also been working on her fear issues and is confident that she will do just fine with a family that is experienced with dogs and willing to give her time to adjust.

Canela is a member of our continuing care program which means her adoption fee is waived for qualified applicants, and a reimbursement of $250 yearly for vet expenses (including preventatives), for up to 5 years, will be given.
She is current on her vaccines, spayed and microchipped.

**This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. A customs fee may apply at Canadian airports. Ground transportation to Colorado is available for $75, and several locations in the northeastern US for $175.

We are a street dog rescue in Houston, Texas seeking to place rescued dogs in loving homes across the US and Canada. Our region has more homeless animals than homes, so we look outside of our area for adopters.

Please apply to adopt Canela online at www.corridorrescue.org.

Thank you for considering a rescued former street dog for your next family member!
