Facts about Aurora

  • Breed: Shiba Inu Mix
  • Color: White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
  • ID#: Teresa
Aurora is a 8-10 year old, 23lb, cream Shiba Inu. She's a quiet dog that spends most of her days napping, but every so often has spurts of activity. She'll get up throughout the day for a drink of water or to see what everyone is doing. She is tolerant of calm dogs that recognize when she needs her space. She has shown some willingness to play with other dogs, but seems unsure on how to go about it. When Aurora is alert and active she chases and barks at the cats. She can be timid towards new people, but offering her one of her favorite treats (cheese or chicken) will usually bring her around quickly. Aurora is very independent and doesn't require much attention, but she does appreciate a good neck rub. She will greet you upon your arrival home and since she's earned complete access to explore my house, her confidence has blossomed.

Aurora is housebroken and goes to the door when she needs to relieve herself. Aurora will need a quiet home with little to no stairs as she has arthritis in her back legs. It will take a patient person to gain her trust, but when you have it, it's the greatest feeling of accomplishment. Aurora is deaf, so it's important that she is always leashed if not in a secured yard. I do take her for short walks, but if she over does it, the next day she will be stiff and have a noticeable limp.

Aurora does eat a prescription dog food to prevent bladder stones from reforming and takes a pill to prevent sleep incontinence. This is a minimal extra cost of care, but it is necessary to continue. Aurora is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and micro-chipped. For more information, please contact Teresa @ 630-815-1440. Her adoption fee is $100.
