My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Linus! This Shih Tzu is such a fluff ball and absolutely adorable. Linus truly wants to be a lap dog but if the lap is not available, he'll curl up on the floor next to you instead. He currently lives with other dogs of all sizes and has no problems with any of them! If they play too rough around him, however, he'll let them know they need to settle down. He's probably right around a year old and won't get any bigger.

Right now, Linus is dealing with some flea allergies and hot spots. He was a little bit of a mess when he came to the shelter, and we're still working on getting him groomed up to perfection. He doesn't need soft introductions to dogs and is particularly fond of new friends. He can be somewhat of a grouch though, so if you pick him up when he is comfy, he'll give a little growl to let you know that was not appreciated. In general, he prefers a seat on or next to your lap and just wants to be stroked!

Though he needs a treat to coax him in, Linus does fine in his crate. Now, if Foster Mom is still home and he gets put away, Linus makes sure to let her know where, exactly, he is. But once Foster Mom leaves, he settles after a few minutes. He currently sleeps in his crate, next to his two foster brothers, and calms down once the lights are our and the house is quiet. He can keep him crate clean all night and doesn't make a mess through a full work day either! He would probably do fine with the run of the house since he doesn't seem very interested in chewing anything.

If you're looking for a young companion that can stick by your side through all the lazy chores that build up in a day, Linus is your man. He has been caught chewing on a nylabone once, but doesn't seem particularly fond of toys in general. All he wants is a warm house, a friendly hand to pet him, and foo! Lots, and lots, of food!
To ensure our dogs are placed in a safe environment, we require a home visit for all adoptions. Because of this, we typically only adopt to homes within 30 minutes of Athens, GA. If you are further away than that and are interested in one of our pups, please still fill out an application and we can discuss your options. Please understand that you would be responsible for all transportation - meeting the dog, picking the dog up to start a trial, returning the dog should he/she not be a good fit, etc. Please visit our website for more info.
