My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The best way to describe Psi is an active, beautiful, smart, peanut butter loving, 18 month old, 35# mix breed.

Psi was rescued from a hoarding situation where she had to share everything with 22 other dogs. She was scared to go outside, of people, other dogs, quick movements, anything that could be a threat. Since Psi has been in foster care she has turned the corner from being a timid, non-social scared dog. Psi now enjoys all the amenities of the foster home she shares with her foster family's dogs. Psi is house trained, crate trained (sometimes needs a little persuasion of her favorite treats), will sit and shake “hands” and loves to plays with squeaky toys and play tug of war with her foster siblings. Psi doesn’t chew things in the house except the occasional stuffed animal (trying to get the squeaker that isn’t there). She enjoys mellowing out beside you on the couch or bed.

Psi LOVES to be outside. She loves to romp around with her friends, catch me if you can is her favorite game. When not outside she likes to sit by the glass door watching outside. She loves to run the fence with the neighbor dogs, chase the squirrels and lounge on the deck watching the neighborhood.

Still leery of people Psi does not know, she will nervously pace and sniff them. Also quick hand movements near/over her head scare her. However, with the folks she knows she enjoys getting attention. Belly rubs work good for her. At least once every day she wants her foster mom to hold her over her shoulder and give her kisses and tell her how much she loves her. Psi walks great on a leash. She wears a martingale collar. If she hears something out of the ordinary we stop and wait until she realizes it isn't going to hurt her and then start walking again.

She does well in a car, although it isn't her favorite thing (she really doesn't like it much). She does not vomit only panting from being nervous. Loves when we get to where we are going, just not while in the car. She does have chronic dry eye and is very good about getting her eye drops 2-3 times a day. She sits and lets her foster mom pull her lid back and put the drops in both eyes. She doesn't run away when she knows it is time. She comes right to her foster mom and sits down. She gets a very special treat for her effort.

The best forever home for Psi would have at least one other dog since Psi takes cues from her foster siblings. Also she would do well with another active dog that wants to play. A fenced yard would be ideal since she loves being outside. Psi seems to be fine with older kids (over 8) but would benefit from a quiet home. Psi will also need someone with time and patience as she will be starting all over in a new home.
