My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gizmo is a charming guinea pig, surrendered into our care by a former guardian whose allergies, and dog’s prey drive were getting too much to handle. While Gizmo received plenty of love and cuddles, his diet, grooming and housing lacked proper guidance. 

This affectionate young piggy loves human attention, and gets very comfortable fast. It is only a matter of minutes before Gizmo decides someone is a friend, and graces us with his love nibbles. Among the many guinea pigs that we have been lucky to help out over the years, we have never had a cavy friend get more excited and vocal than Gizmo is at salad time. He will jump with joy, and squeak as loud as possible to show, without a shadow of a doubt, his happiness of a meal to come. He loves to tear and throw his kale or lettuce pieces, and then slowly enjoy every single bite. 

Gizmo has been by himself for the first year of his life, and this lack of a full time friend, and loneliness that must have occurred, is evident is his need to always be in human company. Despite his infatuation with a good salad, Gizmo will decidedly stop eating, and wait for one of our volunteers to come back to him so he  can continue eating. He has been yearning for a cavy companion of his own for a long time now, and we are looking for a home with at least one male to adopt him. 

Gizmo is an Abyssinian Guinea Pig, around one year old, not neutered, and is in great health according to our vet. If interested in meeting, and possibly adopting, please contact us via adopt@emptycagescollective.org
