My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shelby
3 Year Old Female
Greyhound

Shelby came to us with five other dogs that were confiscated from their owner for severe neglect. The dogs were fed sufficiently but were kept outdoors in a filthy, muddy pit with a makeshift lean-to for shelter. They were hugely infested with fleas and other parasites and had not received veterinary care - even for a broken leg in one case. In spite of Shelby's rough start, her initial reservation turns to her being affectionate, bouncy and loving attention from people. Shelby is housebroken, crate trained and walks nicely on a leash. She loves basking in the sun as well as laying around the house. She has a great disposition despite her rough start.

Shelby's adopter will need to be knowledgeable and experienced with sight hounds. She will need a home without small animals, including cats, rabbits, birds, etc. She should do fine with a medium or large dog. Shelby is now parasite-free, spayed, microchipped and current on vaccinations. She weighs 71 pounds. This dog is being fostered in Hayward, CA and is available by appointment only. Please call 510-816-0954 to inquire.
