My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kyte. A 2 -3 year old, tri-color male beagle, weighing 27 lbs. Kyte loves the Beach Boys and one day wants to learn how to surf. Kyte has worked hard to learn to trust his foster family. He was scared, timid, fearful of human touch and on anxiety / depression medication when he arrived at our home.
With time and patience he is learning that snuggling, getting belly rubs, and attention can be fun. Kyte loves playing with his foster sisters, running crazy 8's in the yard, wrestling and taking naps with them. He enjoys their companionship.
Kyte would grow in a home that has an older confident dog(s) whom he can learn behaviors and rules from and also play with. He loves going for walks/jogs. He is learning the command “stop” when we walk. He also likes exploring in the yard. Each week, Kyte becomes more comfortable here and does more exploring on his own. He has such a wonderful personality and wants to be part of the family; it just takes him longer to join in.
Kyte is a great eater! He loves cooked broccoli - it is his favorite. He will eat all kinds of cooked vegetables. He is treat-motivated which helps with modifying his behavior as he is more than willing to work to get the treats. We are currently working on the command “sit”.
Kyte is very patient. He loves to follow his foster mom around the house. And will sit in the same room quietly. He is crate trained but not a huge fan of it. He is not a barker. He will bark at a squirrel or cat if he sees them in the neighbor’s yard, but other than that no problems with barking.
Kyte is house trained - he will pace by the door or by you when he needs to go outside. He will go potty right away when you let him out. He also goes potty and / or poop when walking on a leash. He has had a few accidents at our house because the humans missed his signal. Kyte is a good listener too. Once Kyte learned to trust me and bonded with me, he has done well with listening: coming in the house, going outside, and with commands like “stay”, “leave it”, and “play nice”. Kyte sleeps all night and he really enjoys going for car rides and to watch the world go by out the window.
Kyte is a sweet, sweet boy who is looking for a special home who understands that he is still learning to trust people and that it may take considerable time for him to enjoy attention from the humans in his family.
