My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet CAPPIE. Who wouldn’t love this adorable mini, red smooth purebred Dachshund. He is only 2.5 years old and as sweet and loving a little guy as you are likely to find. He loves to go everywhere with you and happy to hop a ride in a large handbag. He is a sun worshiper and loves the outdoors. Cappie is a little shy, but gentle and loving, and well mannered. He wants to feel secure and is ready to play. Older children only.

Cappie is afraid of big dogs and with reason. He had an encounter with a not-so-nice big dog and lost part of his foot. The wound is all healed and doesn’t faze him at all. He is a healthy active pup. One of our volunteers is making him a booty or little shoe. He is all up to date on the medicals (rabies, bordetella, DHPP, Advantage, neutered and microchipped) and is looking particularly nice with recent grooming and pedicure. He comes with a new leash and collar set, toys and blanket, dog food and a free exam card for his next appointment with our Doxie vet at Best Friends Veterinary Medical Center.

Perhaps if you are not quite ready or able to adopt, you might be willing to help our rescues pass their time in rescue by donating toys and long lasting chew bones. Or better yet, have you thought of volunteering as one of our treasured dog walkers? Any assistance would be appreciated! Give us a call.

If interested in adopting, please go to www.odr-inc.org and read our strict criteria and then complete our questionnaire and email it to us. We will be in touch with you as soon as we have the chance to review your application. The rescue hours for contact are 9am to 8pm. Thank you, Jenell
