My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is a courtesy listing for another rescue group. Please read dogs’ entire written bio before contacting rescue. To inquire about these dogs, you do not need to press any special buttons on this website. Send a regular e-mail to Janet Cook at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. Please provide some information about your home, family, and other pets. Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue is a private, foster home based rescue. Though there are some steps that precede meeting a dog, they are quick and expeditious. Please ensure you check your spam folder if you do not see an e-mail reply from the rescue. Thank you!

Tobie and Katie are two sweethearts who were owner surrendered. Coming from the same home, they are a bonded pair. The owner, who never let Tobie or Katie inside the house (they were forced to live outside with only a small plastic crate for shelter) surrendered them because he was of the belief that his young children should take full responsibility for the ongoing care of the dogs, and when they did not do so, he wanted nothing more to do with them. Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue took them in because we believe that we can provide the duo with a better life and a chance at a loving home whereby they will be considered integral members of the family.

Tobie and Katie are both between one and a half to two years of age, are both no shedding dogs, possibly even HYPOALLERGENIC. Tobie is a miniature Poodle, and Katie is a Poodle/Shih Tzu mix. We are not going to split them up. Tobie weighs between 9 and 10 lbs. and Katie weighs just under 9 lbs. They are both sweet and cute. Both will need professional grooming about 4 times a year. Both dogs enjoy toys. Tobie wrestles with toys and Katie even chases a toy and brings it back to you. Occasionally they play tug-of-war with the toy. Tobie approaches strangers more readily, while Katie leans on her brother and follows suit. Both dogs love to be in the same room where the people are. Every now and then, they start playing with each other and chasing each other around the yard. They have very rarely squabbled, and you can tell they truly love each other. It is nice to have two dogs that are already used to each other so they can keep each other company when folks are away.

Neither dog was potty-trained when taken in, but they are now crate-trained and potty-trained (however, I do facilitate taking them out at intervals, and potty reinforcement is always suggested in any new environment). Tobie is not crazy about the crate; he tends to be whiny at times; Katie is always very quiet in the crate. Both sleep in their crates (I crate them next to each other) quietly throughout each night. Tobie follows me around everywhere and Katie skirts away from me at times, thinking I am chasing her for a game, but I command her to sit and then I pick her up and she lavishes me with kisses. Katie is very affectionate and Tobie is always wagging his tail, wanting to be near me. They are fine with all of the other dogs here. I do not know how they are with cats. Both dogs are always very quiet in the house, but Katie, at times, tends to bark from excitement and is vocal when she plays with Tobie, and occasionally Tobie alert barks when outside. Both dogs are cuddlers. We think their best fit is in a home with some semblance of a yard to run around in, but both dogs MUST be indoor dogs. I will adopt them to a couple or family who feel they can take on two dogs simultaneously, who understand that dogs need a proper adjustment to any new environment, and who do not necessarily expect perfection, but have an easygoing and loving attitude towards dogs and their needs.

Both dogs are spayed/neutered, dewormed, fully vaccinated, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Tobie and Katie, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue until you have first submitted an interest via e-mail. The adoption fee for both dogs is: $300.00. Please visit my website at: http://www.angelsheartdogrescue.com and go to the Adoption Tab to read about the adoption process; thank you!
