My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, friends! Ernest is my name, and being adorable is my game! Don't you agree? I'm a 1-year-old neutered male Dachshund/Spaniel mix. I weigh around 12 pounds. I've been microchipped, and I am up-to-date on my vaccines. I'm basically ready to head off to my new home.

I'm just about the sweetest, friendliest pup around town. I love making new friends wherever I go, and I get along with everyone I meet - both dogs and people. I'm super affectionate. I love to give kisses and get pets.

One thing you've probably noticed from my photos and video is that I'm having some issues with my skin. I'm currently being treated for a condition called Demodex. Although unsightly, it's very treatable and it's not contagious, neither to other dogs nor to people. Once it's cleared up, it shouldn't reoccur and I'll be able to put the whole ordeal behind me.

For no fault of my own, my previous owner decided they were no longer able to care for me, and they dumped me at the pound. Can you believe someone would do that? I thought family was supposed to be forever! It's their loss though, because I'm truly an amazing dog with lots of love to give.

It didn't take long for some volunteers at the shelter to take notice of my cute face and charming personality. They immediately told CageFree about me, and the next thing I knew, I was in a car on my way over to meet my new friends at their facility. Now all that's left to complete my story is a happy ending. I'm hoping my perfect forever home comes along soon!

So what do you say? Do you think I would make a great companion for your family? If so, please don't hesitate to contact CageFree and let them know that you want to meet me. I'll be waiting!
