Turnip's Story...
Hey, everybody! I’m Turnip, and everyone who meets me comments about either how fluffy or how gentle I am. I am currently living in an awesome home with my foster parents and my rambunctious foster sister, Rosie. Every morning, she is incredibly excited to see me, but I just ignore her until I’ve had my coffee ; ) . My foster parents let me roam the house at nighttime, and I have never had an “accident” in the house. I love going on walks, but if we don’t have time, I’m ok with that. I am also happy to just hang out and watch cheesy rom-coms. My foster mom says I am completely endearing, and I love her, too. It makes me so happy to be around my humans and out of the shelter, but what I want the most is to find my forever home. Could it be with you?

All of our pets start their journey in Memphis Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted.

In order to qualify for ALIVE’s program all of the following steps must be met: • You must be at least 24 years of age and be able to provide ALIVE with proof of age. • Any current pets must be up to date on vaccinations, and be spayed/neutered. Exceptions to this will only be considered if proof of a medical explanation is provided. • If you currently rent, you must provide a landlord’s phone number and a copy of your executed lease. • All members of the family living in the home where the animal will be placed must be interviewed. • Allow an ALIVE Rescue Memphis representative into your home for a visit to insure that your home is safe for the potential new dog or cat. • Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a pet. • Currently, the requested donation to adopt a dog over 4 months of age is $450.00. The $450.00 adoption fee includes transport to the Chicago area.

Our adoption application can be found at http://www.aliverescuememphis.org/adoptionapplication/

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you submit an application immediately to start the adoption process. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, ALIVE Rescue Memphis is operated 100% by volunteers. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.

Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well educated decision from well qualified staff.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Turnip, a Chicago Spitz (Unknown Type, Small)/Husky dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Spitz (Unknown Type, Small)/Husky for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Spitz (Unknown Type, Small)/Husky dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Spitz (Unknown Type, Small)/Husky breeders who help with Spitz (Unknown Type, Small)/Husky rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
