Callie's Story...
**Callie is not currently with the Riley County Humane Society, she is a courtesy post for her owners. If you are interested in Callie please contact**

Callie is a 1 year old boxer girl who has always lived outside. She is looking for a new home because she has not been able to learn property boundaries in her home and frequently runs off. Callie needs a fenced yard in her forever home, even if she will be an indoor dog, she is a very high energy girl. She is very sweet with people and good with other dogs but has no cat experience. Callie should not go to a home with young kids because she will knock them over. We would love to see Callie go to a home that can work on training and indoor manners with Callie. Boxers are not the best choice for an outdoor home because they have trouble regulating their body temperature when it gets hot. Any outdoor only homes should have a plan in place for keeping Callie cool during summer months as well as warm in the winter.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Callie, a Manhattan Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer for sale in Manhattan, or seeking a Boxer dog from a breeder in Manhattan.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Manhattan already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Manhattan breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer breeders who help with Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Manhattan paves the way for another one to be saved.
